Art Auction - Help Rebuild Kibbutz Kissufim
Our mission: to provide funds to help mend the homes and hearts devastated during the tragic events of October 7, 2023, in Israel.
On the morning of October 7, 2023, Hamas fighters entered Kibbutz Kissufim (population 292) and carried out a horrid massacre in the kibbutz, murdering at least eight of its members, as well as six Thai workers. Four kibbutz members were kidnapped, and the kibbutz buildings suffered heavy damage.
The kibbutz security team fought back during the attack and four of its members were killed, including its leader. IDF troops eventually arrived and cleared the kibbutz. On Saturday night, the kibbutz residents were evacuated to a Dead Sea hotel.
Kibbutz Kissufim is located in the northwestern Negev desert, near the border with the Gaza Strip. It was established in 1951 by Zionist youth from the US and South America. Kissufim was meant to help secure Israel's southern border against Palestinian infiltrators.
This art auction "Yearning for Home," (the word "Kissufim" means "Yearning" in Hebrew) put on by UnXeptable with the donation of several artists from around the world is dedicated to rebuilding Kibbutz Kissufim.
Why Kissufim? The Bay Area community shares a profound bond with this kibbutz. They've been an unwavering support to our children serving as lone soldiers in the Israeli Defense Forces. Now, it's our turn to show love and solidarity.
